close! but its still under this... |
Wow. That actually was a pretty killer version. Pretty crazy to think that Jerry likely was looking at the ground during that whole song.
Its getting to be a broken record with me (suggesting this gem that is). Great Jstraw, but I don't think that Jack Straw touches this gem....
http://www.archive.org/details/gd87-04-06.sbd-matrix.hinko.19848.sbeok.shnfits not as perky as the version you like. But I think its about as textbook and climatic as you could want. Multiple great phil bombs, mickey doing some great rolls, jerry with an epic moment of shredding. I was hoping your suggested version would top this, alas, I still hype this gal as thee top dog.

Damn, that is a crazy jackstraw.. better then the OP. I also agree that the later era jack straws are way better then early years
Thanks for posting, and opening me up to that show.

no problem. The following deal is pretty great too, could be longer... The set two opening feel like a stranger and cumberland is great stuff. I also like the other one, pretty good for 1987. Not to mention i believe its followed by stella sugar, which if i recall correctly are quite well done.
I will check out that jack straw, don't know much of the show... Though thats when the W/O a net eyes came from. Which is life changing.

Too late to blast music right now but I'm very excited to listen to this tomorrow. I know I've heard it at some point, but don't have the show so it's a been awhile. I mostly listen to what I have in my collection already unless I'm seeking a particular song such as this instance.

oh man. You'll like it a lot. Its certainly a great jack straw, disregarding any best ever talk. Just wait for the jerry climax tho, dear lord. It is the best played I've ever heard. You're version seems to have a bit more character, looseness while still being nice and rockin. I gotta have a climatic Jstraw, never listen to the pre 74 versions. 'cept for DP 31, yowsa!

I love you man. As a HUGE phil fan, and incorporating all those HUGE phil bombs throughout into my decision, I can now proudly say 1987-04-06 is the top dog, imo. I've never heard it played so aggressively yet precisely at the same time. The vocals are even great which is something you often have to sacrifice when listening to a the later versions of JS. The Healy matrix sure helps too. Everything about it is just perfect.
now I need to check out Candyman

Finally! someone who agrees that this Jack Straw is fucking amazing. Besides my close friends of course. Glad to hear you enjoyed it, have fun obsessing over it for a while heh.
